WHY

In several Anganwadi Centres located in the southern region of Krishna District, the safety and security of children are at risk due to the dilapidated condition of the facilities. Many of these centres lack proper ventilation and power supply, directly impacting the well-being of the children enrolled. Improving the infrastructure of these centres by refurbishing them and creating child-friendly spaces is crucial. This enhancement will provide a safe and secure environment for children receiving pre-school education and for pregnant women accessing services.

WHY

WHAT

Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) serve as vital hubs for women and children in villages, offering essential services such as pre-school education, nutritional support, and healthcare. However, in the southern part of Krishna District, many of these centres are in a state of disrepair, lacking proper ventilation, electricity, and safety measures. These infrastructural deficiencies compromise the safety and well-being of children and pregnant women who rely on these services. Enhancing the infrastructure of these centres is crucial to provide a safe and conducive environment for delivering quality services.
Addressing these infrastructural challenges is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of children and to facilitate the effective delivery of services at Anganwadi Centres.

WHAT

HOW

To address the infrastructural challenges faced by Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) in Krishna District, we are undertaking the following initiatives:

  • Renovation and Refurbishment: Upgrading dilapidated AWCs to ensure they are structurally sound, well-ventilated, and equipped with reliable electricity. This will provide a conducive atmosphere for pre-school education and related services.
  • Capacity Building for Anganwadi Teachers: Implementing training programs to enhance the skills of Anganwadi Teachers in delivering quality Early Childhood Care and Education.
  • Promotion of Nutri-Gardens: Establishing kitchen gardens within the premises of AWCs to supplement nutritional needs and educate the community on the importance of a balanced diet.
  • Health and Hygiene Demonstrations: Conducting sessions to promote better hygienic practices among children and pregnant women, thereby reducing the incidence of communicable diseases and improving overall health outcomes.
  • Health Camps: Arranging regular health camps to provide medical check-ups, immunizations, and counseling services, ensuring the well-being of both children and expectant mothers.

These multifaceted interventions are carried out in collaboration with the Department of Women Development and Child Welfare Agency, Andhra Pradesh, leveraging their expertise to maximize impact. The initiative aims to reach approximately 1,000 beneficiaries, including women and children from local communities in the targeted villages, fostering a holistic improvement in the quality of services provided by the Anganwadi Centres.
